How Much Do Facebook Ads Cost? Real Numbers From Our Own Account

Facebook ads cost whatever you decide to spend. There's no fixed price list. You set a daily or total budget, and Meta charges you through an auction, so the real question is what each result costs you: a click, a lead, a message, or a sale. Most guides answer that with industry averages. This one uses real numbers from an ad account we run ourselves.

We run ZK Digitals, and we also own and operate Cheng Beauty UAE, an online store that has been selling through Meta ads for over two years. Below are the actual costs from that account, what pushed them up, and how to work out a sensible budget for your own business.

Facebook Ads Cost: The Short Answer

You never pay more than the budget you set. What changes is how much you get for it. Meta runs an auction every time an ad can be shown, and your cost per result depends on who else is bidding for the same people, how relevant your ad is, and what you've asked Meta to optimise for.

That's why Facebook ads cost so differently from one business to the next. Two advertisers with the same budget can see very different results. One business might pay under a dollar per lead while another pays many times that. The platform price is the same. The audience, offer and creative are not.

Our Real Numbers From Cheng Beauty UAE

Here is what our own store's ad account looked like in 2026. The store sells beauty and wellness products in the UAE, mainly through click-to-WhatsApp ads, where a customer taps the ad and starts a WhatsApp chat with our team, who then close the order.

  • Monthly ad spend: about AED 1,200, or roughly USD 325.
  • Cost per WhatsApp conversation: AED 1.94 (about USD 0.53) on an earlier campaign, and AED 2.47 (about USD 0.67) on the campaign running from April to August 2026.
  • Orders: about 150 to 200 orders a month from that spend.
  • Ad spend per order: roughly AED 6 to 8, or about USD 1.60 to 2.20.
  • Average order value: about AED 110 to 130, or roughly USD 30 to 35.

What These Numbers Don't Tell You

We want to be straight about the limits. The order count includes repeat customers, and some of them would probably have bought again without seeing an ad. So our true cost to win a brand-new customer is higher than AED 6 to 8. A trained team also handles every WhatsApp chat, which turns more conversations into orders than an unattended inbox would.

These are UAE numbers for a specific audience and product range. Costs in the US are often higher, and a different niche, such as real estate or legal services, will see very different prices. Use our figures as a real example of how costs behave, not as a promise of what you'll pay.

Why Our Cost Went Up 27 Percent

Our cost per conversation didn't stay flat. It rose from AED 1.94 to AED 2.47, an increase of about 27 percent. Our budget and products stayed the same. The main cause we found was creative fatigue.

Frequency shows how many times, on average, each person has seen your ad. Ours reached about 3.5. When the same people see the same ad again and again, they stop reacting, Meta's systems treat the ad as less relevant, and every result costs more. The fix wasn't a bigger budget. We added fresh creative to the existing ad set, without restarting it.

The lesson for any advertiser is simple: watch frequency alongside cost per result. When both climb together, your ads need new creative, not more money.

What Drives the Price of Facebook Ads

Several factors decide your Facebook ads cost per result:

  1. Audience and competition. Popular audiences cost more, especially when many advertisers target the same people.
  2. Campaign objective. Optimising for cheap clicks or reach gives low costs per click, but often poor sales. Optimising for purchases or conversations usually costs more per result and less per sale.
  3. Ad quality and relevance. Ads that people engage with tend to win auctions at a lower cost.
  4. Creative freshness. As our own numbers show, tired creative raises costs over time.
  5. Season. Competition usually rises in busy shopping periods, such as the run-up to Black Friday and the holidays in the US, or Ramadan and Eid in the Gulf.
  6. Tracking. Without a working Meta Pixel and Conversions API, Meta can't see which ads lead to sales, so it optimises poorly and you pay for the wrong results.

How Much Should You Spend on Facebook Ads?

Meta lets you start with a small daily budget, but a very small budget produces very little data. Meta's delivery system needs a steady flow of results to learn who to show your ads to. Meta describes a learning phase that ends once an ad set gets around 50 optimisation events, such as purchases or leads, within about a week. Below that level, results tend to swing around.

From our experience, around AED 1,500 or USD 400 a month in ad spend is a realistic floor for a small business to get meaningful data. When we tested a catalogue campaign for our store, we used AED 40 a day, roughly USD 11.

A simple way to set your Facebook ads budget is to work backwards from what a sale is worth to you. Decide the most you can afford to pay in ad spend for one order, multiply it by the number of orders you need each month, and you have a starting budget. Then measure your real cost per order for a few weeks and adjust.

Agency Fees Are a Separate Cost

If you hire someone to manage your ads, their fee sits on top of your ad spend. Ad spend goes to Meta. The management fee goes to the person running the account. Always ask which is which, and make sure the ad account is in your name, so you keep your data if you change agencies.

Our Meta ads management service costs AED 2,800 (about USD 760) a month, plus your ad spend, which you pay directly to Meta from your own account. It includes the pixel and Conversions API setup, audiences built from your customer data, retargeting, creative direction and monthly reporting on cost per order where it can be measured. We also offer a free written audit of an existing account before you commit to anything.

Frequently asked questions

How much do Facebook ads cost per day?

You choose your daily budget. Meta allows small daily budgets, but very low amounts produce little data. For context, our own catalogue test ran at AED 40, about USD 11, per day.

What is a good cost per click on Facebook?

There's no universal good number, because it depends on your market and objective. A cheap click is worthless if it never turns into a sale, so judge your ads by cost per lead or cost per order instead.

What is the minimum budget for Facebook ads?

Meta lets you start small, but in our experience around USD 400, or AED 1,500, a month is a realistic floor for a small business to collect enough data to optimise properly.

Are Instagram ads cheaper than Facebook ads?

Both are bought through Meta Ads Manager and run in the same auction, so costs depend more on your audience and creative than the app. The best approach is to let both placements run and compare cost per result.
